Alfa-Matrix Artists
Ayria, Regenerator and Glis
07.15.04

So I am getting slower these days which is sad to say. I haven't updated this "blog" area with my latest "live" adventures. Just last week on July 15, 2004 some of Alfa-Matrix's amazing artists played live in San Francisco, CA and what a pleasure the show was. This particular show was lined up with performances by the Alfa-Matrix artists Ayria, Regenerator and Glis.

Each performance offered something new and exciting, starting with the lively Jennifer Parkin (Ayria) singing and getting the audience into the groove of her music. We were also treated to a new song of hers in which she was the programmer behind the music. For those who don't know, Jennifer has only been responsible for the lyrics and vocals in her ex-Epsilon Minus work and current Ayria. All that's changed now, and although I do not recall the songs name I found it quite catchy both vocally and musically. Ayria is certainly an act to keep an eye on as it continually evolves into the dream Jennifer has for her music.

Not that I really want to pick favorites, but I cannot deny I found the Regenerator live show to be the most all around engaging. Not only were we treated to projected visuals for the show, but both Wrex and Patrice brought to life their music with other props depending upon the song. I've had an interest in Regenerator's music for years now, but it was this live show which makes me truly appreciate their music. They've somehow walked the line of cold, programmed "machine music" and the soulful, emotional side of humanity in their sound. Through the years both Patrice and Wrex have done their vocals pretty evenly, giving us the listener many different aspects of life, humanity and emotions from a female and male perspective. They also played a couple of new tracks from a future album, which if are a sign of what's to come; we are in for an emotional yet dance friendly line-up of songs from Regenerator.

Closing out the night the Glis crew took to the stage with someone I thought looked familiar: Karloz.M of Manufactura! So not only did did Shaun treat us to a jam packed set of new and old songs, but we got to experience a "special" mix of insane, rhythmic noise done by with Karloz. I'll get to that though! Not only was the new single track "No Pulse" played, there were a slew of other 'yet unheard' tracks played live for us. The classics "Discontent", "Sunrise" and "Hate You" were all played and were crowd pleasers. Jennifer Parkin got back on stage to do "Letting Go" and "Resolution" with Shaun and the crew to again excite the audience with her charm. It was the last two songs of the night that were the "special" treats we as listeners got to dance or suffer through, depending if you like rhythmic noise. The songs seemed to be done impromptu, but even if not they were definitely loud. Karloz and Shaun laid out some HEAVY bass beats along with all the necessary screeches and scratchs to destroy the club's speakers as best they could. All in all it was awesome from my vantage point. I love Manufactura and Karloz's music made under that name, so to see him do his thing with Shaun throwing in his own chaos was the perfect ending of the night!

I'll be looking forward to new music from all these artists in the future. No idea when I'll get to see the others in concert again, but Manufactura is coming back this fall with Terrorfakt. That's one concert I will *NOT* be missing. Here is the link to this latest concert's pics.

To the future! --> Bry'n
