Melotron started out in my opinion using a mix of EBM and electro-pop to seduce it's listeners. Over the course of their albums, singles and EPs they've refined their sound into a crisp, clean electro style of music. With this short 4 track single the growth and maturity of these 3 artists shines.

"Gib Mir Alles" pulls it's listener in with a mid-paced beat, tinged with little sound manipulations to keep the song interesting. While the music alone is engaging, it's the vocals which define this song as spectacular. Keep in mind I do not speak, nor understand German besides a few simple words or phrases. Even with the little bit of knowledge that "Gib Mir Alles" translates to something like "Give Me Everything", I am able to imagine what the German lyrics are saying through the emotion behind the vocalist's lyrics. More often then not I find myself attempting to sing the chorus along with the vocalist's, which certainly is odd since I don't know what I am saying! :)

The remix of "Gib Mir Alles" is longer, and more orientated towards the dance floor. The vocals during the verses are also remixed, adding in a more robotic sound to them. It works well with the song's new sound effects, and the original chorus. "Damals" starts with a long groovy mid-pace intro and keyboard work, which slows for the song's verses. I am sure there are variations in what's said, but not being able to speak German makes the verses sound like they are repeating the same thing over and over involving "damals" ("at that time"?). Not a complaint mind you since the song does evolve through the verses, and the vocals 'sound' is engaging.

Melotron throws in a neat little surprise with "Sommer" (yes, "Summer") through the use of acoustic guitar and piano sounds. The song is slower then the other three, but much more emotional in nature with it's beautiful chorus. With the acoustics, piano and echoing sound effects it's easy to be absorbed into the music. A very good choice for the single's end. Not only does it make it easy to repeat the whole disc again, but it also entices the listener to purchase Melotron's next full length on Synthetic Symphony. That disc is set to be titled "Weltfrieden" and is to be released September 16, 2002. Sign me up for that disc!
